Water
Line Problems:
Determine where the water line is leaking. It's
usually the spot that is oozing to the surface.
2) Insert an
air hose inside the line past the point of the
break and apply air pressure to empty the line
of remaining water.
3) Find a water line hose one size smaller than
the water line. Insert it into the larger
pipe and push it in, well past where the break
is thought to be.
4) Keep pushing it into the pipe until the far
end is submerged in water. You can tell by
blowing into the smaller pipe and hearing
bubbling.
5) In the space between the two pipes, inject an
expanding urethane foam crack filler. The
harder, less expanding type works best.
6) Hopefully, the urethane ran down to the water
level, began to foam back up, sealed the crack,
and you will see it oozing back out the top.
7) Clean up the excess foam, and wait for it to
harden.
8) Connect the inner, smaller water line to the
system and apply water pressure again.
Tips:
This method
will not work unless the sewer line slopes
downwards and away from you. You need the far
end of the smaller, inner pipe to be submerged
in water to prevent the foam from sealing the
far end shut.
Vertical water lines work the best. Horizontal
lines do not.
Attaching a
long, narrow tube to the urethane foam
applicator helps to inject the foam more easily
into the gap between the inner and outer pipes.

Plumbing
Water Line History and Facts:
Materials: Water systems
of ancient times relied on gravity for the supply of water,
using pipes or channels usually made of clay, lead, bamboo,
wood, or stone. Hollowed wooden logs wrapped in steel banding
were used for plumbing pipes, particularly water mains. Logs
were used for water distribution in England close to 500 years
ago. US cities began using hollowed logs in the late 1700s
through the 1800s.
Present-day water-supply systems use a network of high-pressure
pumps, and pipes in buildings are now made of copper, brass,
plastic (particularly cross-linked polyethylene called PEX,
which is estimated to be used in 60% of single-family homes), or
other nontoxic material. Due to its toxicity, lead has not been
used in modern water-supply piping since the 1930s in Canada,
although lead was used in plumbing solder for drinking water
until it was banned in 1986. Drain and vent lines are made of
plastic, steel, cast-iron, or lead.
The straight sections of plumbing systems are called "pipes" or
"tubes". A pipe is typically formed via casting or welding,
whereas a tube is made through extrusion. Pipe normally has
thicker walls and may be threaded or welded, while tubing is
thinner-walled and requires special joining techniques such as
brazing, compression fitting, crimping, or for plastics, solvent
welding. These joining techniques are discussed in more detail
in the piping and plumbing fittings article.

Nothing lasts
forever, and sewer lines are no exceptions.
The older the pipes are, the more likely
you're going to have problems with them.
Main sewer lines are replaced for these primary reasons.
1.If you start smelling sewage. 2.If there
are patches in your yard that are always wet
3.You suspect tree
roots have invaded your sewer line.
